Why does this channel need a pass?
Warpcast is running an experiment to reduce channel spam. Hosts can opt-in to a feature which requires a purchase of a pass to cast in their channel.
Why is this the best solution for spam?
If passes are a useful mechanism to reduce spam, it is easy to move onchain and decentralize so that it is available on all Farcaster clients. Other mechanisms are much harder to decentralize.
Where does the pass fee go?
The fee goes to the host of the channel for now. If the feature is popular, we may set up a channel treasury and allow hosts to redistribute it back to active channel users.
I already got the pass and its asking to pay for another?
The channel host my have removed you from the channel for violating the channel norms.
I don’t want to pay to cast in a channel
You can cast into your home feed or set up your own channel which doesn’t charge a fee.
