Storage fees are charged by Farcaster to help reduce spam on the network.

When you sign up you rent one unit of storage — this keeps your 5,000 most recent messages on all Farcaster apps for one year. If you cross this limit, your oldest messages are removed.

Each unit can be rented for one year at a time and prices change based on supply and demand. You may want to rent more storage if you want a longer history or if your unit is about to expire.

Pricing

Warpcast makes it easy to purchase storage from within the app by using in-app purchases. We will handle all the onchain operations for you.

• Farcaster Fee — this is what we pay to the Farcaster protocol.
• Transaction Fee — this is how much we estimate we pay for gas fees
• Payment Fee — this is what we pay for processing your credit card transaction.
• Warpcast Fee — this is what we charge for operating the payment service to offset the risk we take from changing gas prices and other issues.

You can avoid paying the payment and warpcast fee by using a service like https://caststorage.com/ and doing the transactions yourself.
